In the 19 years since coming to First Baptist Cherokee, I have served as Minister of Music, Youth Pastor, Sunday School teacher, and have been ordained as a Minister to preach, serving also as Associate Pastor, and now as the Senior Pastor since 2016.
I have a Biblical Teaching Certificate from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a Certificate in Pastoral Ministry, Certificate in Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

“My heart’s intentions are to completely follow the Spirit’s leading, to see the saved grow in faith and for the lost to find it, to preach the gospel to all who will hear and to bring God the highest glory He deserves.

My reward will be when I see His face, and He tells me, “Well done, my good and faithful servant”.

My name is Wade Turberville and I have been the Youth Pastor here at Cherokee First Baptist Church since April 2018, however I have been a member at CFBC since 1989 where I have served in many roles including deacon, teacher, and worker.
I was ordained as a deacon in 2014 and as a minister in 2017. I am married to Christina and have 3 children Travis, Zack, and Destiny. I also serve at the Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, Special Education Director, and 504 Coordinator for Colbert County Schools. I have worked for Colbert County Schools for 20 years. My hobbies include camping, hunting, fishing, coaching my kids, and reading.
My favorite verse is Isaiah 41:10,
“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.”
I cannot think of another verse that tells of what God is, will, and can do for you as a believer on top of the assurances of protection and strength.
